Diary kept by R.D. Joynt, a member of the Church Mission Society in the Northern Territory of Australia, April 11 1927 to December 31 1930. The diary has tipped in pamphlet "The story of the Melanessian mission" and several handwrittten notes describing exploration in the area. The diary describes the day to day life of the mission.

The Church Missionary Society was founded in 1799 by a small group of laymen and clergy of the Church of England. It was originally named the Society for Missions to Africa and the East. Its purpose was to enable the Church to send missionaries to Africa and other heathen areas. Henry M.
